DIVE

Transportation
If you don't have the means to move, and you are staying in the north area of Mallorca (Puerto Pollensa, Alcudia..) don't worry! We will pick you up, take you to the diving spot and take you back to your accomodation.

I live in Scotland and was looking to do my PADI open water abroad and looked for a long time before I found Barracuda. I initially emailed an enquiry and from the moment Joana responded to me I knew I had found the right place. I booked my flights and accommodation within days and the full experience was seamless. The first part was ofcourse the online theory that I done from home but every single question or roadbump I hit with this Joana emailed me back within the hour with advice. Juan offers his open water 1:1 rather than in a group setting (which is typical) and this appealed to me. I am a solo traveler so was worried about not learning things quick enough and at a group pace, the 1:1 programme made baraccuda stand out to me. I didn’t just want to get my certificate, I wanted to fully grasp and understand what I was doing and why, Juan made this possible. I arrived in alcudia myself and although I was nervous, this was minimal due to Joana’s attentiveness. Before I had even touched down in alcudia Joana had emailed me a very detailed breakdown of what was going to happen and when. She even sent me the WhatsApp contact incase I needed to contact her quickly. On the morning of the first dive (finding it was easy with Joana’s directions), Juan called me to assure me he was on his way and would be on time. Same with the second day, and the third. On the second day I ran into a bit of trouble (not dive related) and Juan took a break from the dive and drove to the chemist for me. It was clear my wellbeing was important to him. On top of this, every single step of the way Juan assured me I would make mistakes but what was important was to learn from them. He was an absolutely amazing teacher and also a lovely friend to meet along the way. There were times I felt embarrassed for bobbing away or getting something wrong but Juan kept me focused and made sure I felt comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. For the final dive Juan took me to the marine reserve which was an amazing experience. By this point I was so comfortable in the water and in his presence that I forgot all about my nerves and was so excited to get in. However, when I got in the water there was a slight current and I started to doubt I was cut out for diving. Juan kept me calm and reassured me this was normal to feel tired when swimming in a current, he made sure I was ok and reminded me it was my choice to go under or to go back onto the boat. Ofcourse I went under! What started of as embarrassment and self doubt rapidly changed to excitement and determination because of Juan’s patience and understanding. I then enjoyed the best dive of my life (so far 😉). Can’t thank Juan and Joana enough for their amazing service. As a solo female traveller I couldn’t be more grateful for the unforgettable experience they provided and I will 100% be back for future courses x

Juan has been diving for more than 20 years, what started as a hobby quickly became his passion, after his first dive he knew he wanted to dedicate himself to diving as a professional career. He has worked in Isla Margarita (Venezuela), the Canary Islands and Mallorca (Balearic Islands, Spain).

The minimum age is 8 years old. There is no maximum age to dive, as long as everything is ok in the medical declaration your age will never be a problem.
Yes, you will be insured at all times during your dive.
No, you don't need to know how to swim to dive.
No problem! You can share instructor with a maximum of 3 other people. If you want a private lesson, please contact Book Now.
As long as it is done responsibly, diving is perfectly safe, your PADI instructor will ensure that all safety standards are met and that you are comfortable and safe with the equipment at all times.
You can fly before diving without any problem.
After diving, it is not recommended to fly immediately, and you should wait from 12h to 24h.
Barracuda Diving is located in the north of Mallorca and we cover Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa and Alcudia areas. If you don’t have private transport, we will pick you up! If you are staying in a different area of the island, please contact us and we will check availability.
